About this site

studentbroadband.org.uk compares wired home broadband for students: full fibre, cable and part fibre, on deals that last no longer than 9 months.

Why 9 months?

A student year usually runs from September to June. Most broadband contracts last 18 or 24 months, which means paying long after you've moved out. We only list 1-month rolling and 9-month deals, and compare them on what they cost over 9 months.

How we check deals

  • We take prices from each provider's own website and contract information. Each deal shows the date we checked it.
  • We include every one-off charge we can find, such as set-up, installation and router fees. See how we compare for the full method.
  • We don't check which deals are available at your address. Use each provider's postcode checker for that.

Prices change often. Always check the price and conditions on the provider's website before you order.

How we make money

Some providers pay us a commission if you sign up through a link on this site. Those deals are marked Ad, and the links are marked as sponsored for search engines.

  • Commission never changes the order. Deals are sorted only by their 9-month cost, or by the sort option you choose. Deals that pay us nothing are listed in exactly the same way.
  • Using our link doesn't change the price you pay.
  • Some links go through TopCashback, a cashback site. You'll need a free TopCashback account to use them, and you may get cashback yourself. Each one has a direct link to the provider beside it if you'd rather not.
  • Providers without a commission link get a plain link to their own website.

Wireless broadband

If you can't get a fixed line, or don't want one, our sister site studentbroadband.me.uk compares 4G, 5G, satellite and fixed wireless broadband on the same terms.
